Among many diverse duties, the major responsibility of the Department of Public Works is the maintenance of all Township roads and parks. Consisting of 11 full-time employees, the Department also plows all municipal roads and conducts the annual leaf collection program.

The Department also performs most of the maintenance required on all municipal vehicles. In a typical year, the Department uses about 750 tons of rock salt and 1,500 tons snow grits, plus 3,500 gallons of calcium chloride for snow and ice control activities. The leaf collection program is one of the Department's major activities, collecting 1500 cubic yards of leaves collected over a span of two months in the fall. Routine road patching consumes about 1200 tons of asphalt in a typical year.

The Public Works yard is open for brush drop off beginning mid April through early November on two Saturday's a month, from 8am to 3pm.    Residents who have not disposed of Christmas Trees may bring those to DPW as well on 2 Saturday's in January.  Call Town Hall for exact dates at 735-8800 ext 200.  Residents are allowed to drop off two free pick-up truck size loads of brush each year, with brush tickets being available in the Clerk's office for $10.00 each after that.

Additionally, postcards entitling residents to one free pick-up sized  load of bulky household waste to be taken to the Petticoat Lane transfer station are available by calling the Clerk's Office at 735-8800 x200.

Road Repaving

The Township repaves its roads based on a 5 year road plan.  The most recent plan was adopted in 2014 and runs through 2018.  To view this plan, CLICK HERE

Potholes

If there is a large pothole on a municipal road, you may report it on-line through our Citizen Request Form .

Brush Dropoff and Transfer Station Cards

The Public Works yard is open for brush drop off beginning mid April through early November on the 2nd and 4th  Saturday of the month, from 8am to 3pm. Residents who have not disposed of Christmas Trees may bring those to DPW as well on the Saturday's in January. Residents are reminded that two free pick-up loads of brush are allowed each year, with brush tickets being available in the Clerk's office for $10.00 each after that.
